- The default notification settings no longer email favorites when you post a poem.
- When you post a new poem, only a few lines of that poem are included in the email to those that have opted into it.
- There is an option on the notifications page to never send an email to favorites when you post, even if they've opted into it. I think this should be the favorite's decision, but they're your poems, so I think it makes sense to let you decide.
- All sites now use JOINT notification preferences. If you changed ONLY your storywrite preferences, please check them again. Again, the url is http://allpoetry.com/user/notifications - or click the link in 'my account' or on the right side of the edit author page, or in an email notification.
- Here's some more info about the defaults, since I wasn't clear before.
The defaults for members who have not customized their settings at all are now:
YES Someone adds you as a friend (email limits skipped)
YES New comments on your work
YES New messages
NO New poems by favorites
NO New notes (replies, etc)
Frequency: 1 week. Reset after login: YES.
Before, it defaulted to YES for 'new poems by favorites', but otherwise was the same.
If you were worried about how many emails might have gotten sent out to 'old' members, if they haven't logged in over the last week, it would have likely been only one, though two is possible.
There have been bug reports of two users having their settings mysteriously 'reset' to the defaults again despite their changing them. If you see this, please try shift+f5 to make sure you're seeing the most recent notification settings page, and add a ticket.
I know many of you, especially the long-time members aren't at all interested in this system. It isn't for you, and I'm sorry for any pain it's implementation has caused you. There are, however, a LOT of casual visitors for whom I think this system will drastically improve their experience.
Thanks for your patience and suggestions,
Kevin

I just wanted to see if I read it right.
