This is a really fun project that has increased drastically in popularity over the last few years.
Allpoetry joined for national poetry writing month this year and it was a huge success. Lets show those poets how it's done!
To get the free membership, I'll post another column at the end of the month, and ask participants to comment within a few days with a link to the story they've added with their novel.
Good luck to everyone! Add the category 'writing month' to your stories to make them easier to find (if you want). Find a buddy and take turns reading and making suggestions to each other.

No, not really, from what I've read.
You just need to reach the 50K word, or exceed.
