1928- That year the most popular items on the christmas top toys list were a Metalcraft Zepelin model kit, the Yo-yo, and the Sunbeam Race pedal. car. Apparently children were loving cars and model sets and an item we still love today, the ageless yoyo.
1938-Gene Autry guitar and Fisher Prices Snoopy Sniffer topped the list in 1938. Gene Autry was a western singer who gained fame as the "singing cowboy." The Snoopy Sniffer was a dog on four wheels that were under its belly. It was attached to a string and when pulled the head and legs moved up and down.
1948- Kids were either trying to look and act older this year or manufacturers had found some board games that entertained the younger generation. Scrabble was a hot item as was Cootie, which was a game where you mix and matched eyes, arms, legs to build a one of a kind Cootie.
1958- The Hula Hoop and Frisbee topped that years popular item charts and both are still very popular even in the 21st century.
1968- Little people like little people. At least thats what the info shows. Little people figurines and Spirographs were coveted items that Christmas season. Spirographs being a geometric drawing toy that produced mathematical curves.
1978- Science fiction was the rage in 1978. Star War toys in general topped the list. Battlestar Galactica which were based off of a sci-fi TV series and some films.
1988- Ghostbuster toys were the favorite. The most popular in that catagory being the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man which was a fictional mascot and monster in the ghostbuster movie that came out and was also in the animated series.
1998-Beanie Babies, Furby, Playmobile video system, and Lego Robots Revenge were around the US sitting under many christmas trees waiting to be unwrapped that year. Lego was
2008-Cars Walkin' Talkin McQueen, and the Air Hogs® Zero Gravity™ Micro (Spinmaster) Radio Controlled Vehicle might have been waiting under neath the evergreen last year for younger siblings as might of the Bratz™ Girls Really Rock Dolls and High School Musical Sing Together Dolls.
