This column is to help and only help, people who need an extra nudge to help them write
When you are writing, look to yourself to help you focus on what you are going to write. Use your brain, don't listen to what others tell you to write, or don't look to a book to write about what that author wrote about, they have a completely different perspective than you. Don't look to authors, or your friends for advice(unless necessary) take what you see, feel, smell, think, and hear, and create a scene out of it. Paint a mental picture for yourself first, and then try to paint a picture for others also. Painting a picture helps grab the reader's attention. This will make them want to read more of you story. Also, become your characters, make them feel what you are feeling, have them do an action you would do. This helps capture the familiarity in the reader's mind, it makes it so that they understand that you are your character. Vocab. The most important thing is Vocab. Vocabulary, helps make the reader interested in the words' meaning. This also lets the reader see how well suited you are for writing. Back up to the Mental Picture, usually, if you can see the picture in your mind than you know the reader will. Lure, your reader into the scene, make them want to paint the next mental picture. This is what I call Ink Weaving. Ink weaving is a detailed, and powerful way to write, if you can achieve this, you can achieve anything!!!
