Class : Beginning Your Novel

Note: I am currently not accepting any new students. I will be taking a short break once I have gotten through the current load of students. Thank you for your interest.

With any tough job, preparation is key. A doctor never goes into surgery without his tools, an astronaut never goes to space without his spacesuit, and a writer never writes a novel without a plan. Not to say that novel-writing is comparable to going to space, but the point is that it's not one of those things where you can just go in and “wing it.”

In this level, you will learn the fundamentals of Novel-Writing. From plot and characters all the way to the hardest part: the first page.

You should go into this class wanting to write a novel and with at least a vague idea for a story.

At any point throughout this class, if you have any questions or suggestions you may message me requesting a chat on the class forum. If I am online at the time you send the message, I will get into the chat immediately. Otherwise, we will need to set up a time. Alternatively, you can use the 'Question' box at the bottom of each assignment. This adds an automatic forum entry to the class forum, and I will be able to respond to it when I have time.

Prerequisites: A desire to learn.
