I just thought of this today, and I've seen these go for a long time before, so let's see how this works

For the rules... basically, someone posts a part of a song - be it a verse, the chorus, or just a line - and someone has to figure out what the song is.
Whoever gets it first gets to post the next line of a song for someone to figure out.
Simple, right? Well, here are some tips/stipulations:
•Keep it simple - don't start giving a line that could be used in any old song, and try to use songs that most people here should have heard by now. Don't use a song from a band that you 'just found on MySpace and thought they were so cool!'
•I shouldn't have to mention this, but... don't use the title of the song if it's in the lyrics.
•Please don't post the entire song... keep your posts short, 'kay?
•You can use hints if you think it's necessary.
•
Please don't use any rap songs. They're nothing more than rhythmic monologues about *bunny*s and more *bunny*s
•This should be obvious... but DON'T CHEAT! Of course, we have no way of telling (or do we?
) but where's the satisfaction in getting it right if you had to look up the lyrics to give the right answer?
I'm hoping this will catch on as a way to pass a few minutes of our day, so keep it going
NEW RULE: If a song goes a week without being guessed, it's fair game for anyone to add a different song -
*ahem*
Hotel California by The Eagles. *cheers* Go me!
"And when she gets there she knows if the stores are closed
With a word she can get what she came for."
Jeez, I hope people know that one. O.O
-jj -
-
Yay!
I'll sit this out for someone else to get a chance
-
Stairway to Heaven by Led Zeppelin
-
-
It's Stairway to Heaven... not Stairwell...
-
-
I changed that twice, but I got a 'page not found' error, and decided to come back later and forgot. Thanks for the reminder!!
-
-
-
-
Aw crap - I know this, I just can't put ma finger on it .... something by Led Zeppelin?
*crosses fingers* -
-
Beat ya by a minute
-
-
Argh!
-
-
-
"How I wish that there were more
Than the twenty-four hours in the day" -
-
Ugh, my Presley is all rusty, but I think it's an Elvis tune...yes?
-
-
and the title would be......
<- Elvis, if he were an emoticon....
-
-
If I could remember which song, I'd surely post it.
I was hoping giving the artist would jar someone else's slightly less rusty memory. *laughs*
-
-
Okay.. big hint... It's one of my 7 year old daughter's favorite songs.
(It is... she knows the lyrics... that, and "Should I stay Or Should I go" by the Clash)
-
-
It's Vive Las Vegas, isn't it? I think I sprained a brain muscle with this one...
-
-
(Although, Dead Kennedys' version is my favorite)
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
Next:
"Chicken in the bread pan pickin' out dough.
Granny, does your dog bite? No, child, no."
Oldie, but goodie - this song never ceases to make me smile.
-
Devil Went Down to Georgia
by Alabama.
"a mulatto, an albino, a mosquito, my libido."
Teriffic instrumentals by this band, but janky lyricism. -
-
By Alabama?
Way off, but you got the song right
*Charlie Daniels Band
-
-
Ouch.
Sorry, I'm no country buff, but I do dig that song. -
-
Meh, not so much country as it is bluegrass, but it's on the classic rock station here all the time. Love the song too.
-
-
-
-
Smells Like Teen Spirit by Nirvana. Love that band.
"But if you try sometime you find
You get what you need."
-jj
-
-
I know it, but I'll let someone else answer
-
-
I knew the lyrics, but couldn't think of the name, so I looked it up. Now I feel stupid that I didn't get it, such a great song.
-
-
Satisfaction
Rolling Stones.
"Slide over here, and give me a moment, your moves are so raw, I've got to let you know"
from memory, may be a bit awry but that's the jist of it. -
-
Erm... not trying to burst your bubble again... but you got the song wrong
-
-
but if you try sometimes, you just might find, you get what you need?
I can't think of the name, dammit. Is it "what you need?" I could cheat, but I'm not gonna. It's against the rules. So tell me already. -
-
"You Can't Always Get What You Want," my friend.
And if I could remember who sang your song, I'd post that one too!
I'll hope someone else knows, instead.
-
-
That's it.
see, I knew that. I just couldn't place it for some reason. Brain fart...
Thanks for taking pity on me.

"I need you tonight" by INXS
The kids should like this one ...
"I ain't goin' to school it starts too early for me
Well listen man I ain't goin' to school no more it starts much, much too early for me
I don't care about readin' , writin', 'rithmetic or history"
-
-
I have doubts that any of the 'kids' will get this
-
Well...I'll be the first to admit you've completely stumped me with this one - even after I broke down and looked it up.
-
I know it, I know it!!

But, I've already had a turn
-
-
If no one gets it by tonight, go ahead and do it
-
-
she's sexy and 17
-Stray Cats
-
-
hehe ... you're probably right.
-
I'll give a clue ... Stray Cats performed this one in the 80s
-
Stray Cat Strut?
-
Here's an easy one...

You know the day destroys the night
Night divides the day
-
-
I know the band... I'm just not sure I know the name of the song
-
-
*laughs* We should collaborate - I know the name of the song, but not who sings it!
-
-
-
Break on Through by The Doors
"Hangman is comin' down from the gallows and I don't have very long"
-
-
Now I'm singing that song (not the Doors, but the other one... love this game... all these oldies songs!
)
(I IMed you the answer... but, going to let someone else have a turn)
-
-
Renegade, by Styx (I love that song
)
"I understand about indecision,
But I dont care if I get behind." -
-
Boston?
-
-

Now figure out the song
-
-
Peace of mind?
-
-
Yup. Your turn.
-
-
Dang, I missed a good one!
-
-
You still haven't added your song for someone else to guess
-
-
-
-
-
And nothing Irish either ... give us poor yanks a chance, eh?
