Hey, I'm currently looking for a publisher and I found one. Xlibiris. Something like that, and we have to pay but from what I hear it's really good. They say King started with them. So hmm. But I was wondering, does anyone know of any other publishers aside from publish america and lulu that we don't have to pay? If we have to pay it's ok.

1) Run away from Publish America! They're horrible!
2) Not too sure about Xlibiris, but they don't seem all that good either.
These are vanity presses that will charge you to publish your work and will do nothing to help you market it.
Lulu is a vanity press as well, but they are a bit different. They actually admit what they are and do something the others don't ... they allow you to sell your book through their website at no charge ... try doing that with the other two.
Only non-fiction titles seem to do well on Lulu, though I have seen some exceptions. Also, they have a program where you can buy an ISBN number and then sell your books through Amazon Online and Borders Online.
So ... how do you get your books on the shelves?
Well ... here's the secret. Get your ISBN number and then get your book online with Amazon and/or borders. Next, call your local Borders and order your book (you want a copy anyway, right?). They will normally order in a copy for you and TWO MORE to see if they sell.
Send in three friends ... two of them buy the copies that were ordered in and another orders another copy (of what is now out of stock). They order five to ten, and you have books on the shelf.
Now ... from here luck takes over, as you can't do this in every city in america without nullifying your profit. If your book is great, those five extra books in Borders will sell and gather notice ... otherwise, the market might not be ready for your book and it might be best you didn't invest heavily in your book.
Hope this helps.

Thank You. I will do that then. But the only problem is that I can't draw my cover for anything. Lol do you know any sites where they can draw covers?

I know at lulu.com that they have some stock covers that are nice.

Oh yea and about Publish America lol I heard so many things about them. Why are they horrible?

They're scammers. They'll accept anything that comes in no matter the quality. A bunch of guys pretty much foiled their scheme by deliberately writing a crappy story. Their editing process became a process of removing anything and everything that contained evidence of competence.
PA accepted it, and the authors published an article about how they faked PA--as a means to deter anyone away from them. After PA found out about this article, they sent out another e-mail saying that they found 'un-editable passages.'
Just look up Travis Tea (play on the word 'Travesty'). The book is either August Nights or Autumn Nights. I think it's Autumn

if the author pays anything it's a scam

If the author pays, then it's vanity publishing... which most are scams. (not all, just most)
Sometimes there's self publishing, which costs, but the author should always check out everything before hand, and not take anyone's solid word for any company. There are some that swear by Publish America, and will defend them to their last breath.

Yea I heard about a Kevin who wrote 30 pages and just copied them over and over and over again and it got published.

I think I'm going to do what Yoshi said. I have a lot of friends around the country and globe. And hopefully I'll get noticed by big publishing companies. =D Thank You All

Glad we could help.

I heard that Christopher Paolini self Published, so it is possible for fiction to be successful with a vanity press.
