i really dont have a writing process, i write at random intervals till i have a chapter, then i let it alone for a while, i come back and look over it changing stuff and then i post it and change the stuff that viewers catch for me. What writing process do you guys use.

    Similar to yours.
Other times, I just write, and the chapter creates and unfolds as it's being typed out.

I write on one thing until I run out of inspiration, then I wait for something new to come along.

my stuff is written out in my head, (and edited in my head) alot before it's ever put on paper (or typed) i usually don't write on paper (any more) because i edit myself (using word proccessor) a lot long before i even think let anyone else read even a page of my work (this is why none of my work has appeared on THIS site yet)

i write as much of a chapter as i can with paper and pen. then i type it up on the computer...when i type what i previously wrote, i always make tons of changes and maybe even take the story in a different direction. also i do TONS of brainstorming and i usually know everything thats going to happen before i begin to write.

I'm one of those people who think of things as they go along. I'll think of my main plot point, and I just write from there. Of course, this only works sometimes. Other stories, I'm barely out of the starting gate even if I have a groundbreaking plot point. That's why I'm probably never going to be a good writer. I also carry around a small notebook to write down plot point, lines, etc. I think of randomly.

    My writing process

I write out a blurb (like what you fin don the back of a book jacket) and then i separate that into three parts (adding details as I go along) that turn into the beginning , middle and end. Then I go over each of those three and separate them into their respective beginning, middles and ends as well. I usually come up with about 9 plot points (these turn into chapters). I reread this and if any scenes pop into my head I write them down including and dialogues that I think of. Then I start writing.

    My Writing Process

I found that when I set down to write a chapter novel I end writing too much at one time, and forcing the story! Therefore, I break it down into different parts and write as much as I can about each part. If I get an idea along the way for a future part, I stop and write as much as I can about that part because most of the time I can use it as a later chapter!

I always start with a outline and by the time I am finished with the outline it's pretty much already written. All I have to add are the dialogue and details. The characters just seem to write themselves lol

I am incarcerated so all of my pieces are written on pads of paper and using a pencil while locked in my cell. When given time on the computer I then type up what I have written...and it generally gets edited and corrected during that process. I then copy and paste it in order to post here...and it gets edited again during that stage as well. I tend to just let my writing flow but when it comes to chaptered works I have an idea where I am going with the piece before I even start writing.

I've tried many different writing processes and still haven't really found one that works well. Right now I've been doing a mish-mash of thinking first, jotting down notes, drafting on paper, outlining and just bashing away on the computer.

What can I say, I get there in the end.

minds kinda the same. when i get a cool idea for a story, i write it down, and i'm stuck in that story for a week, or a month, then i get a different idea, and stop writing in the one story and move on. it's bad, i know, because i've got almost 30 stories, and 3 finished. [12 if you count short stories and poems]

Get an idea, write it all out on word, literally everythin I can think of, even if I don't particularly like it, then, when I'm done, go back, reread, edit and try and make it read as well as I can (:

I like to write in a composition book. I feel somewhat satisfied and contented to see the books fill up. (Even if they are mostly the brainstorming.) Then I'll type it up. Usually I add stuff and edit while typing. I try not to do too much because I end up changing the story as I go anyway.

All the brain-storming is done in the brain. When i got something good, I type it up and let it sit for awhile, and then go back and edit it.
Sometimes if I'm in a good muse I can go on and on without ceasing, and the ideas will be boring from my skull like a psychotic clockwork machine.
  • My Writing Process

My writing process is when I come up with an idea when I am at school or at home I write it down in a notebook or a peice of paper. Then I leave it alone and then after a few weeks I go back to it and then start writing because by then I pretty much have it all planned out and I know what it would be about other times like when I am at school some of my classes are boring and so I sit there coming up up with ideas and writing them done so when I go home I can from them into plots and everything. Then when the book, poem, or short story I have written is done and I need a poem I read it over and over until I got a title for it that I like then I decide if I want to get it published or not which is pretty much ever story. Or If I run out of ideas I leave my story alone for a while and then go back to it after a couple months or even a year.
  • My Writing Process

First of all I have an outline of a story, which then takes me to do a chapter by chapter outline. Once I have done that I check that I have everything I need to write the novel, charactors, maps and any other info I may need.

    Then I write it.

I also have a A4 notepad for when I don't want to put the computer on and I write any ideas in it, and if I need a break from my novel I can go to the book and flick through and maybe a story will jump out at me.

My main problem is I have so many ideas, that I want to write new ones all the time. I should really write one and finish it.

    I have a coupla ways...
I think something through think about it until I either write it down or forget about it.
Or I stare at a piece of blank paper until I think of something. You'd be surprised how well it works.

    I don't have a writing process

I get an idea in my head (from where I know not) and just .... write!
I don't have any outline or sketches etc etc, I just write what comes into my head and use the scribblings as a first draft. They also tend to be the final draft also (unless you take into account the suggestions given in reviews)

    i dont have one

I write whatever comes to me whenever I feel like it, I have ideas, wait for a few days sometimes then write those ideas down onto a simple laptop I have for schoolwork
  • now i make an outline becuz i wrote myself into a corner so to speak
  • I normally write with pen and paper first (even though I recently got a laptop for the sole purpose to stop doing that- I find it a habbit to still do so )... I just let it flow out at first though and not worry about perfection or any errors until I go to type it up. As I'm typing it up, I edit, add detail, etc. and that's about it.

I used to try to do outlines- but instead of helping me, they ended up hurting me. I realized that personally for myself, its just easier for me to let it flow out and see where it goes without much advanced planning.
  • Hmmmm.....my writing process has changed somehwat. When I did 'Conner', I wrote everything down on paper and then typed it up. Now after having formatted it for Lulu though, I just type everything up on the laptop, and print off a hard copy. Especially as I'm trying to do three at once!

I have never used plans or outlines for any story I have. I'll have a basic outline in my head (so and so is here, they do, this, this might happen), but I never have a definate 'chapter-by-chapter' for anything. I've never done that, and it's never harmed my stories.

But I always go back over stuff once it's finished up, and edit it, re-write etc. I tend to write chapters every day, even if I don't feel like it, just to keep writing (I don't want it to be a hobby). Sometimes I'll switch stories for a while if I need a change of pace, but after writing 'Conner', I seem to have got very determined about how I write.

  • eat a good meal. soft-lighting-softer-music. meditate..relax the mind..breath in..breathe out..visualize my characters and the scene and focus then the writing begins.

    Writing Process

I try to be the people I write about, hold their hand, speak with their voice and in the time frame of the story. Have mental picture of them in my mind. If I get stuck I just start on something different.
  • How I Write

I start with an idea; it's either a beginning or an end to a story. Sometimes both.

Then I make an outline. Sometimes I don't have a middle at this point, sometimes I do.

I think about my plot a lot during the time I'm not on my computer, and I work out plot lines in my head. I add them to the outline until it feels pretty filled out.

Then I start writing. Ideas sometimes come to me, like subplots or extra useful details, as I write, and I toss them in, too. I've read enough books to trust my subconscious when it says something will make more sense to me later on. It's always right.

Often I pick pivotal scenes and think about them ahead of time, deciding on the details and stuff, and how to lead up to it properly. Once that scene is written, I pick the next scene and repeat.

Having an outline helps me finish the story, if it's a longer one. Otherwise, I might wander off and start some other story.
  • my stories would die slow horrible deaths if I try to have an outline. I write down random ideas that I want to remember for later but nothing as strict (for lack of a better word) as an outline.
I get an idea, usually of a scene or character. I write it out and keep going until my hand hurts or I run out of creative juice. I come back to it whenever another idea pops in my head. I tried to set aside specific writing times, and it was garbage. I just need to have a pen and book handy all the time.
  • It would depend on the story, really. A short story usually just gets written out, while a novel would have a storyboard with what is going to happen. Although... on that storyboard, nothing is cast in stone, and the only things that remain solid are the beginning and a few key facts. (I couldn't kill someone in chapter five, but move it to chapter ten, and have them refered to as dead in chapter seven).
  • I don't really have one. i get an idea, I start to write with no idea of what is to come. It's really bad, as I don't like where the story takes me, i leave it, so I go thorugh loads of unused ideas. I have lots of first chapters that have already run into the ground. i really need to change that

I guess I write on inspiration only. When a great idea hits me, I brainstorm for a while. Start the beginning. The let it rest. I develop the main idea or outline and then begin writing. I think it helps so flesh out the plot entirely. This way, I can foreshadow in the story and add unexpected twists!
