Poll: Do you miss authors page comments, or are IMs fine?

    IMs are okay, but there's just something about them that takes away that personal touch. Plus, they vanish after a certain time, while author page comments remain until the author deletes them. I have AP author page comments that date back to Dec 06, 2002... my oldest IM is less than a month.

    i always hate when

    people leave personal or grumbly ims on my author page for all to see.

    Maybe if I called them 'testimonials' or something?

      Testimonials.... good idea.

      Maybe have the option to turn them off or on?

      Or only have 'friends' be able to leave messages?

      I know of a lot of sites that have a keystroke limit per comment area...that might cut down on the spamming that happens at times on pages when someone gets a notion to be annoying.(not that that would \ever\ happen )

    I liked having comments on my author page. It was good to know people actually looked at my writings, even if they didn't comment. And even if they did leave bad comments, they were always deletable.

      Indeed.

      I also liked having comments. It allowed for a bit more interactive and personal of an Author Page. I like comments, and always look for them when I come online.

    I miss comments

    I like comments on my author's page... They made me feel loved.
    I think you should bring them back, but maybe make them optional for those who want them.. Kind of like you did with group IMs for AP...

    Comments were great

    ...because you could always leave a litle token of appreciation if you didn't have time to leave a good critical comment. If I was lacking time, I always left a little note mentioning I saw a new piece, or read a bit, and that I'd be back later to reiew and leave a nice comment. And if I was particularly keen on one piece, or collection, I'd always leave my thoughts.

    Also, if I was looking at the author page of someone I had never read before, I always checked comments to see what others had to say.

    And, there's always the option of deleting a comment you don't like.

    Bring back the authors page comments!

    Author's Page

    I miss Author's Page comments...

    I mean, really, I do. it was nice to know people visited my page, and the ims just don't have that.... touch....

    Hard to explain, but I'd much rather have author's page comments than IMs.

    I Miss Them

    I really miss the author's pages on this. I get lovely messages on my author's page on AP. It sucks thatwe can't get them on here. It adds to my page, I think. I like IMs but author's page comments are just as good.

    Come to think of it. I find it really difficult to get around this StoryWrite site. AP is so much easier....

    Anyway, yeah, I wish there were author's page comments too. I love my IMs but it'd be great to have author's page comments as well.

      why did this change? i can't figure out why the storywrite site needed to change at all, it was absolutely perfect when i first got here, what happened?

    IM's are alright, but I miss the author page comments. I can't comment on ppl's background taste(or lack of) anymore!!!!

      We're not allowed to discuss it? Heh. People's opinions are important. Whether they're the majority or minority, they should be heard and considered. Public opinion be damned. Maybe people have good points.

    I like both

    i like teh way the author comments actually let you know at least someone has read your work...but then, IM's are much easier if you just want to conatct your friends for a while withoutb the whole world seeing...

    the "P" in PM stands for "private", and you should still have the cappability of having the whole board see a comment about a story if you want
