In the recent past and present, I have noticed that music lyrics have gona COMPLETELY downhill (like talking about drugs and sex and whatnot.) I want you to tell me if you agree or disagree, then tell me an artist that YOU think has true lyrical talent. It can be anybody.

Brad Delp (RIP March 9, 2007)

Lead singer and rhythm guitarist for Boston. I haven't looked it up, but I'm pretty sure he was mostly drug free. Most of the songs he wrote were about music and if it wasn't about music, it was about encouragement. There are a few songs where he does reference sex and drugs, but it's fairly subtle. But most bands from the seventies were like that anyway

He died two days after I turned eighteen at the age of fifty five, two weeks after his final concert (which he played at a house party.)

    I agree, completely.

My Humps and Girlfriend are two of the most annoying songs I have ever heard.

True lyrical talent. Well... I've heard songs that I hate... and have read the lyrics which are great.

I'm more into 'instrumentals' now, though... Apocalyptica. (their song, Faraway, is amazing ... there's two versions, one with lyrics, and one without.. the one without is the best.)

I think the lyrical content of many popular artists has plummeted, however I disagree with your blanket statement of lyrics as a whole have declined.

If you want good music and good lyrics then don't listen to popular music; it is a waste of time and likely to rot your brain.
Try listening to something more challenging and meaningful. Try Radiohead, Smashing Pumpkins (not their latest album), or Tool. These bands are yummy good music food.

The amount of music out there that is actually good is phenomenal. The only trick is knowing how to find it.

ick, ick, and ick. Try Nickleback, Avril Lavigne and ummm... (thinking of one more annoying artist....) Robbie Williams!

      (you know I'm kidding, right?)

I find that every artist has at least one good song... maybe more. Same for bad songs.

Sure, even if you're a bad artist you are bound to hit a fluke every now and then.

I do say on occasion that it is rare for anyone to pick up my humor.

I don't listen to lyrics that much because they're so rubbish. I prefer insrtumental.
  • Sting

I really dig the lyrics that Sting writes...he is a true troubador...and the words just roll off the tip of the tongue if you say them aloud...I wish I could write like that....
