Working on a Deadline

    Hi guys

I have just got an internship at an advertising studio as a writer. I'm so excited and can't wait to start BUT I may have a huge obstacle to overcome.

The job will require me to work on a deadline - something that I am not used to. I have a huge problem with time control, procrastination, and just being a lazy, uninspired blob.

So what do you guys do when you have to write on a deadline? Any tips would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Don't think about it just do it. Like the Nike commercial says.

Working on a deadline is the best way to get motivated. If you have trouble with that, give yourself something to look forward to--e.g. if you meet the deadline or get the work in before that then treat yourself to something you want, in the form of food, or going someplace, a movie or whatever or buying yourself something nice.

Get a calender, a clock and jump start your brain with ideas.

I have never had trouble with deadlines, I just start the work and get it done. Being an impatient person I have trouble waiting for deadlines, and even in the contests here at SW cut them short once I have a certain amount of entries. Lol.

Hope this helps, good luck with the internship.

Start as soon as you can, and get as much done as you can early on. Use your enthusiasm or someone else's inspiration, whatever it takes. Then what's left over will seem small and easy compared to all you've gotten done already.

Thanks guys! It seems pretty straighforward - but now I have to actually do it!

I would try to avoid any distractions...like being on here, for example. At least until my work is done.
