"National Novel Writing Month is a fun, seat-of-your-pants approach to novel writing. Participants begin writing November 1. The goal is to write a 175-page (50,000-word) novel by midnight, November 30."

Members of Storywrite have been enjoying NaNoWriMo for years, and there may be groups dedicated to it (no listing of groups, please... go look them up ).

So, how about it? Who's in?

I've done it a few times before, but this year I don't think I'll be doing it as I already have a lot of other writing projects on my plate and just recently started writing a new novel not long ago (honestly don't think my brain can function with another one-already have 3 I'm working on ) But good luck to everyone else who is

This is out of my league but good luck to everyone who participates - everyone of you deserve a prize for the effort alone

  • Oh! Oh! I'm in. I'm in.

I probably won't succeed, but I'm definitely in.

I'll be in the too-much-on-my-plate/brain camp. I've been meaning to participate for a few years now but it always seems to be a bad time.

You mean on the pizza? Sure, why not? Mmmm, frypizza. After all, it all comes out the same from the end. In! In the end. That's what I meant.

175 pages on my computer is a lot more than 50,000words! i don't know if i'll have time, though, with the amount of schoolwork i've got this year. i'll try...but i'm quite likely to fail!

Wolfie, I don't think you will fail - just set your own goals. 50,000 is only a goal for the site.

Every word you write towards your personal goal is a true achievement.

I can always send "FlyingFrisbee" Pizzas to you. Or you can cry on my shoulder a little when it gets tough.

Just remember, I can't do NaNo - but I can still be a part of it. And I don't consider myself a failure.

I think 20,000 is achievable. It all depends how much I have on! (homework, coursework, music exam, music rehearsals, charity events, carol rehearsals...deary, deary me)
  • I'll try, won't make it but I'll give it a try. Might be the kick in the butt my muse needs to get working again, not like I have anything better to do .

Give it a go, not everyone can respond to NaNo in November, you may be a January writer, or February, or ... you get my drift.

If you decide you want to deliver "FlyingFrisbee" Pizzas and tissues - I'm looking for dedicated idiots - er, supportive members to help me

      Lis.
      • I'm going to give it a go, November usually isn't a good month for me with school, but due to the economy I have nothing to do so I'm going to give it a go. Got an account on there, a story idea, just smoothing out a few wrinkles and waiting.

do romanian or english versions of the same book have more words?
Harry Potter in german is about 1.5X the english length, if you get my drift.

I don't know It's just easier for me to write in romanian because I don't have to think about the spelling or grammar and so I can concentrate on the subject.

Alas! Mine died Monday morning. Luckily my husband's still works, and I have nearly all my prep stuff saved on the internet.

You could still try for a SoyP approach.
