I tried to enter my poem in one of the contest but the system said:
Sorry, this item is in too many contests already. Please submit a poem to a maximum of 5 currently open contests - more than that and it is likely you aren't meeting the contest requirements.
But it still let me in. Will someone explain please?

Whoa, that's new. I've not seen that. Maybe it's a recent update, though I don't think I've ever had something in 5 contests at once.

Hmmm I kind of like that. A long time ago the system limited you to 1 contest at a time and would remove the write from the previous open contest. I liked when that was removed, but granted then there were folks who would write one thing and enter it into ever contest available on topic or not. I think that 5 is a nice limit that is not too confining.

Hopefully it is a new feature. --waits to see

That sounds awesome. Forcing the 'write or flight' response.

I like it to be honest, it encourages users to be creative and ambitious in order to continue to place highly in contests instead of riding off the backs of previous successes.

I can't see a negativity to this and would encourage this fearure with great enthusiasm

I really can't see a negative side either. Especially since it only affects entering the same write into simultaneously open contests. It doesn't limit the author from making edits and entering the write into future contests that it fits the criteria of. And being able to enter something into 5 simultaneously open contests is not very limiting either.

True; I'm a self-professed contest whore and I've never had an entry in that many contests at once. But then, I pay attention to contest rules: I can't win if my story doesn't apply.

My story was fitting the criteria. And i do not have enough time to sped on SW, so i usually write a story after a month or a half. But anyways, its okay.

Can we get this new 'feature' added to the shameless box?

Ooh, +1. Maybe we could get it lowered to 2 or 3 stories. And what about the featured list? I've seen 4 stories jammed together by one author. If I'm not gonna read one because of tags or title or whatever, I'm not gonna read any of the others.

Hmm, it should never show more than one story by the same person in the featured box at a time... are you sure you've seen this recently?

I see it all the time, because I peruse the entire list. http://storywrite.com/feature/list

The top six stories don't give me enough variety to choose from, so I go for the full enchilada. I never pay attention to the top six, on other site pages. Either I want to read Featured stories or I don't.

Now you have limited the story per contest limit to 4.
I want it back to 5.

You have my vote for it to be added to 'Shameless'. I'm tired of the 'wars' between some members of the site which flood 'Shameless' from time to time.

It could be used to better effect for our newer members who may not have the points to use the Reward/Features sections.

I rarely go to 'Shameless' now, as I am tired of reading the same items. I used to find a few little gems by new authors which I was able to 'Feature' anonymously. It gave me a bit of a kick, probably for the author too.
