so, if 25 total votes, then why does it only say '1' in the top slot? (which, by the way, is what I voted ) Just the difference in numbers has me confused.

i can't see a link to see details for an author's profile in relation to "(how it works currently)".

the missing option so far as i can tell is:

(*) let authors decide how their information will be displayed.

It's only there if they've defined it. Most people only have a "short" description.

I'm against having too many options, so want it to be the same way for everyone. Things like where links are to get to things get reallly confuisng when they're different for every page

not if handled properly, but i'll let this go since i know you don't budge on issues you've sunk your fangs into.

as for the full profile page, since your options are limited, here are my votes:

(*) click to reveal it in same page (if there's nothing you can do about the look and feel of the detailed profile page)
(*) link to a separate page (if users can customize backgrounds, html, create their own feel for their personal profile)

thanks for the details. I anticipate giving people more ability to customize especially their author pages. But it's still a week or two off.

I just did my 'full description'..... and wondered a few things.

Would it be possible to have the link show up as a different colour on the author page?
Would it be possible to have paragraph breaks in it?(I've tried the shift+enter, but that doesn't work)
Is it all right to link to another site?(eg, lulu.com, or another publisher)
    Rich text editor?

    1) Color - bit of a problem, as users choose the color for their page currently and there's no option to choose a link color. So it's just underlined. I may change the color "box" to be the whole page more like AP in the future, so we'll see where that goes.

    2) paragraphs/newlines don't work? I'll look into it thanks!

    3) I think there may be something against competing sites in the rules, but lulu, etc, should all be fine.

    4) Rich text - eventually

The paragraphs work now....I think it was just one of those 'things' at the time.

Colour is no problem.. The link that leads to the rest of the description is now underlines, so that makes it even better than colour.

I wanted to ask about the other sites, jsut to be on the safe side.

well...I don't actually like this two descriptions bit...

but if i had to choose from the options above I'd say "click to reveal" (although I could swear that that's what it's doing now, not linking to a seperate page....oh wait, you prolly changed it already)
