Emotions after writing.

I have just finished my first novel. I am waiting to get it edited, but now I feel totally lost with what to do with myself. How will i handle rejection etc, what if it's total rubbish to others, all those things going through my head. Just tell me again why did i start writing?

I just finished the rough draft of my novel a few weeks ago. I felt lost for a couple weeks, and didn't want to edit at all. I wanted a vacation. Now I'm editing a bit and writing other short stories and such to occupy my creativity.

As for being published, there's nothing I can do about whether they want to publish my story or not, once I submit it. It's rare to be accepted, and between personal tastes in publishing houses and the market in general, it's like throwing darts blindfolded after being spun around in circles. I never wrote to get published; I write for fun. If someone wants to pay me for it, peachy. I am going to submit this novel out there, but in a "let's see what this is like" sort of way. I have other novels written, in progress, and unwritten, so what happens to this one won't drastically alter my life unless I win the lottery with it. And I don't play the lottery.

Write for you, or it's just a setup for a fall, emotionally.

But consider other markets. Like Amazon's Kindle.
