I wish I could get into the college football.
I'm more into pro. I don't do the goofy fantasy thing but I just watch and root for my home team and anyone playing against ny, dallass and foxborough (aka new england).

I dunno. I'm more into the team then the individual stats and what not. I know some of the teams I truly dislike have some amazing players. So, if I was to play fantasy football with any hope in winning I'd have to pick a few of them and that would kill me inside. I could truly careless how many sacks Dawkins gets or yards Westbrook, as long as they (I really try not to say 'we' since I'm not playing) get the W, thats all that matters to me.
I'm in a suicide pool at work.
Basically you pick one team each week to win. If they win you move on, if they lose you're out. You can only choose a team once, so if you pick the jets week one you can't pick them for the rest of the season. Last person left standing collects the cash, which @ $10 a person is about $160.
Much easier stats to follow; win or lose.

            Buddy, you're SOL...

again, this is a writer's website. You have a penchant for asking questions, the answers to which you're not likely to find here amongst the literary types. I like football and all sports, but I am not one to memorize stats and know players better than I know family. I played sports in my youth and got Sports Illustrated so I could converse intelligently on the subject, but I am not an avid fan. If a game happens to be on and I'm there, sure. But I don't have a pennant hanging up in my room. I'm a UW fan and also the Seahawks for NFL.

I don't do fantasy football but were I of the inclination to do so, I think it might be mildly entertaining and perhaps a good way to keep in touch with what's happening.

I have a question too: How many have stayed up on stats just so they could converse intelligently on the subject, but really had no other over-riding reason to do so?

              whats SOL

lol, many, many people keep up with stats just to have an intelligent conversation on the subject (myself included sometimes) but my real reasons are to follow the players and teams (LSU )that i like. Also i am going to start paying even more attention so my fantasy football team will have a chance of winning.

    Hi Scriptor----Football! Yawn. Yes indeed.

The concept of adults out in a field playing what in fact is a childhood game, never fails to amaze me. The concept of normal adults moving in mass to a stadium were they are allowed to pay, what is likely several times the amount they are paid per hour of work.

All this is for the privilege of sitting for several hours on a hard cold bench, watching adults, who forgot to grow up, make several hundred times the money, you will make in your life time.

I’m sure there is some obscure, but ill rational reason for this un-defendable conduct. It can’t be pride, for those that are watching don’t even know those that are playing. The fact of the matter is if you did know those that are playing you probably wouldn’t even like them. They for the most part are over paid, selfish, unsportsmanlike—you know all the things we allegedly despise in our fellow man.

Well what else can I say, if I ever get stupid enough to spend good money of something this stupid—please have me committed.

    Talk to you soon---ablelaz.
