so you guys prefer stories about werewolves, or stories about vampires? which is more interesting to read? which is easier to write about?
-
None of the above.
Talk to you soon---ablelaz. -
As long as it's not a mirror image of all the other stories out there, then it doesn't matter to me. Now, even all those 'original ideas' from 5 years ago are bogged down with far too many stories from various authors.
If it *is* one of those stories that are the current vampire/werewolf genre, then it has to be very well written for me to want to read. -
werewolves!!!

i would rather punch myself in the face than read a story featuring either.

I feel the same way about stories with wizards, elves, etc.
Then again, I may stumble upon a well written one, and change my mind... and what one person considers well written may not be one that I consider well written.

By wizards and elves I'm guessing you mean particularly stereotyped wizards and elves. Even if they may not be called wizards and elves by the author?

Seems like most the science fiction/fantasy books I pick up have a elf in it. Or a halfling, or gnome, or wizard, or some other Lord of the Rings/Harry Potter hybrid.
If I get half way through the book with these characters, and then realize that 'hey, he's a wizard!', then that means it wasn't shoved down my throat throughout, and it wasn't overdone by the author. I prefer that. It has to flow so naturally, that any magick, or anything else is done so seemlessly that it belongs in that story, and doesn't overpower it.

I'm a sucker for fantasy, so I like books with vampires, werewolves, wizards, dragons, etc. in them, unless it reads like a badly constructed clone of every other fantasy book I've ever read. I'm more forgiving of recycled plots if the characters are well-written.
