im sure most of you have heard the saying, "a penny saved is a penny earned" and if you havnt crawl out of whatever hole your in and use your ears. The thing is i dont see how this saying makes any since. If you have earned a penny than its yours if you save it your not losing any money but your not earning any money either. If you save a penny and dont do anything with it nothing happens! Can anyone tell me what exactly this means.

It's an idiom that basically means saving money is hard work and happens one penny at a time. By not spending that penny on something frivilous, you've earned the chance to use it for something better. -
-
i hate idioms, why doesnt it say that
-
-
It should be "A penny saved is another goddamn useless penny cramming your wallet."
-
-
Well, take into inflation, the time the idiom came about, etc, these days it'd probably be closer to $10 saved is $10 earned. Now, that's not so useless is it?

I think I have about ten bucks right now, so hell yeah!
BTW, I love your face image! -

Hehe, thanks. That's what I feel like after I've been working all day, and then recording/mixing music for another few hours.

but thats still the same thing as penny saved penny earned, its just a different number... it still doesnt matter
-
-

You can...
bust your hump to make a buck...
or
you can use your noggin' to shop around for something a buck less and supplant that extra buck by by removing the need for it.
Money in, money out. It's all about cash flow. You can be the little dutch boy with his finger in your wallet dike, or you can just fix the hole in your wallet by shopping wisely and give your fingers a break. -
-
or you can become the next best selling author
... so what your saying is using that saved penny to make more pennies kinda thing... that makes since
