    ***NOTE: Poll Closed 16th August***

Each of the above courses will be on offer soon. Thank you all for voting - we hope that you are just as excited as we are to see the start of Writing Classes on Storywrite!

Though we are certain that many members of Storywrite may be interested in volunteering to teach, we are currently NOT accepting expressions of interest. A core group of teachers have already been carefully selected.

    On behalf of the Teachers,
    Elisabeth & Jodie

NOTE: Any questions and queries about the Academy and courses on offer may be addressed HERE

I think it sucks a little that teachers have slready been selected without anyone knowing anything about it.

      it's a little sad.

Well, got to get the machine running before people try using it.

Besides, I've known about it since it began pretty much.

I typed a little write-up on how all of those are interconnected, but my browser ate it, and I'll take that as a sign.

I voted for short story writing because in my experience it is how a writer can practice the basics of novel writing (and other) without getting bogged down in word-count, revisions and blocks. A short story is also a good tool as it does not allow for fluff, meandering, and stylistic errors which are sometimes easy to overlook in a the body of a longer piece.

I think this is a great idea; I'm looking forward to seeing a school/classes implemented.

It's no wonder many writers find so much trouble finishing a novel. You spend several months with these wonderful characters running through your mind, and it's plain anguish to know you are nearing the end and might never see any of them again.

Would you mind defining "poetic prose"? That term sounds interesting.

    Your Questions.

I am Elisabeth, the Director of the Storywrite Academy. Sounds a mouthful? Not really. It just states who I am and what I do. I direct traffic for the school. I'm opening up another topic where I hope I can answer your questions.

I'd like to start with editing, take a refresher in grammar, then go on to novels. I'm just glad we finally have these classes set up. We all can benefit from them in one way or another.

Definately Grammar and punctuation, no point in trying to write a novel if your grammar as terrible as mine is.

Hmm... I think screen writing actually teaches story principles better than short story writing. It forces you to break your story into the components of scenes AND it's all about story (and of course dialog). *nod nod*

On that note, I chose novel writing :-D <-- Hypocrite.

Screenwriting is incredibly difficult--that's one reason why I don't do it. The other is that I hate reading scripts for the most part.

As for my vote, I was torn between novel writing and short stories. My biggest problem is running out of steam for novels, so I have to wonder if the course will cover ways to avoid that little problem. On the other hand, I'm a windbag for short fiction (usually ending up writing novellas or something). But I picked novels anyhoo.

    *nod* screen writing is difficult.

Novels.... organization is what gets me. You have this huge work and it's mind boggling to make everything resonate and make sure it's the most concise and meaningful it can be and that everything functions for a reason and makes sense. *shakes head to clear it*

I submitted an assignment but it still hasn't been graded. That's the bad thing about classes. I don't know if the "teacher" has actually looked at the assignment. And I have noticed that the teacher is the same age as I am. Nothing wrong with that but they don't seem to particularly care to grade anything.

I checked your class and I noticed that you had submitted your homework two days ago.

Assignments are usually graded within a week, so if you haven't received your grade in a few days, please contact me and I will look into it for you.

There are twenty-four students in the class at present, most of them actively submitting assignments. So far, all assignments have been graded in less than a week.

If you have any more difficulties or questions you're welcome to IM me any time.

      Elisabeth,
      Director
      Storywrite Academy.

Ok thank-you. I didn't want to sound like a jerk or anything. I just didn't know if there was a certain time that they needed to be graded. All respect toward the teachers and people in the classes.
