    MTV Plots Rocky Horror Remake
    24 July 2008 5:06 AM, PDT

Movie bosses at MTV have announced plans to remake cult classic The Rocky Horror Picture Show.

The new film will use the original screenplay by Jim Sharman and Richard O'Brien and be overseen by Lou Adler - the executive producer on the 1975 hit, which starred Tim Curry and Susan Sarandon.

Although casting decisions have yet to be made, Adler hopes the picture will be ready in time for October 2009.

He tells Daily Variety, "I'd like to see it shown a year from this coming Halloween, but that's up to MTV."

All I can say is NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Not that I actually like the original, but it's a classic, and camp, and something I always watch. I've never done the dressing up thing (Okay, once or twice, but it was for Halloween, honest!).

Okay, some shows, super hero stories, cartoons, etc can be remade, converted to live action movies, and I'll give it a shot... But this?! Rocky Horror Picture Show is a classic as it is! It CAN'T be remade! I'm joining you with the dramatic lament in the beginings of a choir... NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

IF it kept to the original, and casted actors that were not the flavor of the week, then it MIGHT be passable as a made for TV event. BUUUT it'll probably star Paris Hilton and Rob Schneider.

I was thinking more of the high school musical/the hills/tila tequila crowd.
I smell an oscar...wait I also smell something else...

How about remaking little shop of horrrors too?
Lets see, what other cult classic can we take and crap all over?

it wouldn't really matter who the hell the actors were if the kept the script completley identical to the original

true. true. Sadly, I can imagine them wanting to do something "new" and "fresh" and as such removing alot of the old songs, and replacing them with numbers they hope to be even more "classic" than the original Time Warp. I'm praying this doesn't happen.

just using the original script and re-casting would actually make a bad-ass movie, but if they change any of the songs it's gonna be crap
