My desires are mercenary. I will refine and improve my writing, by any means necessary. I will hone and temper my eye and gut; and fine tune my sensibilities as an artist, craftsman and social scientist. I will find venues for publishing, as a consummation of my final writing process. I don't care if the general public loves or hates me, as long as I find my audience and my audience enjoys what I write.
Anything that helps me along in this path is worth my time. Any allies I make along this path are bonded in steel, and I will help them as much as I can.
This is my credo, my manifesto.
I have spent all my life refining my ability to perceive and think clearly. Writing is the expression of that.
Once you peel away all that is not important, the center of you and your will is all that remains.
After that, you can only live by your own standards.
I'm a 34 year old divorced, white, zen budhhist, male living in New Hampshire, working in a factory, writing for a sense of self, distracted by ideas and fascinated by diversity of perceived reality.
I am primarily interested in writing sci-fi, fantasy, meta-fiction, erotica, horror and a few other minor genres I dabble in.
For reading, I prefer non-fiction. Science, economincs, politics, history, etc. My fiction list is mainly the classics of sci-fi, especially dystopian (Brave New World, 1984) or the varied works of Card, Heinlein, Niven and a few others.
The bulk of my fictional diet is television and movies. Red Dwarf, Doctor Who, Stargate SG-1, Battlestar Galactica, Star Trek, etc...
As a critic, I am cruel, or at least try to be brutally honest with diplomacy.
I tend to ignore spelling and grammar issues in my critical analysis and focus more on flow, plot, content, character and intent. There are plenty of people here that will do a spell check editorial and I'm more inclined to focus on things a word processor program can't give you.
I will shred your work, dissect it, tell you what works and what doesn't for me.
I hope you will do the same for me.
I believe in the "Quid Pro Quo" system of editing, so if you critique one of my stories beyond just saying if you liked or hated it, I am very inclined to doing the same for you on one of your stories.
