I am a 57 year old man from New Hampshire, USA. I have been doing quite a bit of writing, only a portion of which I have posted on SW. All of the posted stories except for Glubdork and In a Cat's Eye are true. And everything I write is original. I will of course use figures and metaphors common to everyday speech, like I might write, "She was pretty as a picture," and of course there it is understood that I am borrowing a common metaphor. Also when writing a parody, it is allowed, even expected, that cliches will be included. But when you see in my work anything like "It is like some crazy Robin Hood shooting bent arrows," those things in my writing are all entirely original to me, and I claim copyright. If ever to my knowledge someone else had written or spoken that, or even anything close to it, I would never use it myself without giving credit to that person. The same goes for characters, plots, etc.
Here's my deal: I am here because I want you to read and comment on my stories, and I assume you are here because you want me to read and comment on yours. I will read and comment on stories at random, but I will read only one (well, maybe two) stories by any given author, then I will wait to see if that author reciprocates. Conversely, if you read and comment on one of mine, I will read and comment on one or two of yours. Then if you read another of mine, I will again reciprocate. I don't care how good a writer you are; if you want me to read your stories, you have to read one of mine. Check out my comments and you will see that they are substantial, and that I am a diligent and competent reader and critic.
