Hello. I am Sparrow.
***CRITICISM***
I joined storywrite with the hopes that I'd get constructive criticism on my stories. This is not to say that I'll jump to change my story content by any mere suggestion. As a writer, I would like to improve and further develop my skills.
Because I like to receive meaningful comments and constructive criticism, I try to stay in that mindset for when I read another writer's piece as well. Not all my comments will be sweet as candy, but I usually do try to point out at least one good and at least one improvable area in a story.
***CONTESTS***
One of my favourite features about this site as opposed to other writing sites is the point system. I enjoy earning points and hosting contests, as well as trying my luck with entering them. I know I'm not a perfect writer and hardly expect to win each time, but I am proud when I do. And because of this pride I take in my own work, I refuse to enter contests that seem to be written up and hosted by someone careless about their own writing. For example, a contest with grammar and spelling errors (especially those that have a rule against such things, and believe me I see a lot of this). I find that many contest rules are just pointless, such as asking a writer to put something unrelated to the story in their author's notes 'to prove you read the rules.' If the story doesn't break any of the rules, then it's clear someone read them, isn't it?
It's just one of my pet peeves about this site, and I'm probably known by a few hosts for pointing out their contest flaws. Well, if you can't live up to your own standards, don't expect other people to. That's all.
***STORIES***
Although Fantasy is the main thing I dabble in, most of my personal works are general fiction or just poetic prose. I like to read dark stories, and often include such a twist or idea in my Fantasy or general fiction works.

So lately something that's bothering me is getting an overload of private messages on this site. I think the message system should be used when something is private between two members, such as conversation or argument/debate. I don't think the message system should be used for "thank you for the comment" replies.January 11, 300 words. → 2 comments, Add one?

This site continues to annoy me. 1 People who put no effort into writing, shitty non-contests, contests that encourage no effort being put into writing... 2 And of course, people who can't take someone else's opinion and need to have the last word, so they'll use the Almighty Block Button to make themselves lNovember 15, 2009, 200 words. → 4 comments, Add one?

I never thought I would use this site to post a journal... 1 However, I have been blocked. 2 Now, I don't want to do into the details on the argument, since you can see my stand on it by following this link: http://allpoetry.com/contest/2462837 3 But what I want to concentrate on are the last two commenOctober 8, 2009, 300 words. → Make first comment?

WildWolf1092 on January 31Everytime I enter I contest i usually visit the host and leave a comment on their guestbook. I enjoy your views on living up to expectations and totally agree with you. I like that you support constructive criticism and have to say that I do the same thing you do: try to at least leave a comment that says what could be improved. I like to recieve contructive criticism. I think I'll defintiely try and read some of your stories when I have time
