Hi,
  I am tomereader, a.k.a. Amber's dad, a.k.a. Bill.

I am a practicing Christian (practicing because I have not got it right yet).

I was married to the best woman I have ever met in 1984 and have been blessed with two children.

I think I may need some sort of therapy because I am still very happy and have no desire to wander off. I have never met anyone else as good as my wife, some may come close but none get there. I concider myself blessed in that department far more than I could have hoped for.

I enjoy the creative process and just wish I was better at it and I love to read other peoples stories.

I started writing D&D senarios in about 1982 but only started writing properly in 2004.

In 2003 I was diagnosed with a large (grade 4) brain tumour. It was about the size of a golf ball and was beginning to press on my cerabellum. This lump of brain controls involuntary motor functions (like breathing) and I was given around about eleven months to live if nothing was done. The removal of said interloper carried a whole shed load of possible problems including a 30% (1 in 3) chance of dieing on the table (that would have spoiled my whole afternoon). Being a Christian was a great help and I saw many prayers answered. It does not mean that bad things won't happen but it does mean they are easier to cope with.

After my recovery I started to write, firstly a whole load of Christian based stuff, mainly trying to give anyone who is interested a place to start on things like praying, and coping with difficulties and other stuff like that.

In 2008 my daughter, Amber (Glowstarcharmer) introduced me to this sight and I started writing short stories.

The after effects of the space invader removal is an inability to concentrate on anything for much more than an hour; poor balance and being totally deaf in one ear and tinitus. Still  - it's better than being dead so no worries.

My favourite books are:

Bible

Lord of the Rings

Under Milkwood

My favourite music:

Dire Straits

Mozart

Pink Floyd

I like most music and can usually find something I enjoy by almost any artist. I do not get on with rap as a lot of the time it is just a rant. I like reggea (sp?) but only in small doses.

I get on with most people and try to see the best in everyone.

I do not like:

prejudice,

bullying,

bigotry,

brussel sprouts,

soap operas,

[I will add to this list as more things crop up]

My other hobbies are:

reading,

stamp collecting,

d&d,

Goon Shows (an old radio series)

gardening with my wife (I am sure a spade would be easier),

eating.

I also enjoy some poetry although I find some pretentious and nonsensicle.

My two favourite poems are:

The Raven

Blue Remembered Hills (see below)

Into my heart an air that kills

from yon far country blows.

What are those blue remembered hills?

What farms, what spires are those?

That is a land of lost content,

I see its shining plain.

Those happy highways where I went,

and cannot come again.

My weaknesses are spelling and punctuation. I also have no faith in my own ability to write and I am constantly amazed, honoured and humbled by the fact that people like what I write, (I am never satisfied) and that they take the time to comment and give guidence.

So while I can I will continue to write and bumble through life and, with God's help, not make too much of a hash up of it.

May God bless you with an abudance of all that is good.

Tomereader.

Wow I'm terribly sorry about your brain tumor. My father had one himself that was the size of your two thumbs together. Luckly they were able to get it out in one piece but his personality changed in the process of it.

I'm a bit late in getting here, but I've finally made it (I guess you know that because I'm writing this and I couldn't have done if I hadn't had made it )

It's nice to meet up with someone who has the same sense of humour.

Dire Straits and Mozart? Wow! That is one B-I-G musical culture chasm.

I hope you enjoy yopur stay and I hope you're around for a looong time

I see we have of things in common. I have 'Under Milkwood' on CD in the car, I share my long drive's with Old Mog, Captain, salt and Morgan the Organ and the rest. It has to be Richard Burton for me though.
Your music looks spot on as well.
For me you seem to have the same outlook on life and you have conviction in your stated morals and integrity.

    Nice to meet you
