A few things about me: I've lived in the U.S. all my life, but have always loved travel; one of my goals is to visit every country that I have ancestors from (so far I've only gotten to Ireland, which leaves me with three to go). Those countries aside, Ireland (revisiting), Japan, Tibet, and Alaska are at the top of my Places-to-Go list, at least for now.
Apart from writing, my main hobby is music. I've played piano for about fourteen years now, and it's gone from being a chore (when I was younger) to something bordering on an obsession. A loving obsession, but an obsession nonetheless. I like overcast days, new languages, good books, beautiful music, friendly people, and Persian food, and am entirely too fond of desserts.

Some interests:
Reading - anything/everything by Neil Gaiman, J.R.R. Tolkien's Lord of the Rings trilogy and related works, Les Miserables, Catch-22, House of Sand and Fog, the inaccurately named Hitchhiker's Guide trilogy, and most of William Shakespeare's plays, though seeing them is always preferable to simply reading the text
Music - A little bit of (almost) everything, provided it's intelligent and/or beautiful
Movies - Pan's Labyrinth, The Lord of the Rings, Fight Club, Memento, Requiem for a Dream, The Princess Bride, the Marx Brothers' movies
Gaming - PC or PS2, mainly RPGs (Team Ico's creations are some of my personal favorites)

Critiques: Yes, I will do them on request. If there's anything glaringly wrong with a piece I read, I try to point it out simply through comments, but if you want a really thorough critique I'd be happy to try doing one if asked. Also, I do draw the line at some things (see below).

***Important note!!!*** for anyone thinking of requesting a critique from me on pieces relating to Twilight:

I will be blunt - PLEASE DO NOT DO THIS. There are very few things that I loathe in this world, but Twilight is quite possibly one of them. I'm sorry, but if you make such a request, I will invariably turn it down. Why? Because Twilight is, quite simply, awful, and I don't enjoy reading awful things. No, you can't change my mind about this. It's bad enough that people enjoy it, though, granted, we're all allowed our guilty pleasures now and then, but if you are of the opinion that it is actually good literature....that is both saddening and rather worrisome. There are so many wonderful books out there - please put down the terrible Mary Sue vampire fan-fiction and go find them. Moral of the story: No, I will NOT review anything Twilight-related. Sorry, folks.

Well, I must say, you've really surprised me. Storywrite, in its wisdom, told me you were a similar author, and so I began to read.

Storywrite, it seems, isn't a very good judge of similarity. I WISH we were similar, I WISH i had half the ability you do!

I'm halfway through "Cards, Skulls, and Fortunes," and it's taken my breath away. Your prose is delightful, somewhat archaic and whimsical, and absolutely beautiful to read. So bravo Miss! Please, for the benefit of this site, and all who might learn from you, keep writing!

Twilight seems to be failing harder everyday to get merits. And for good reason.

    Horray to anti-twilight fans!
