I'm a 20 year old college student who has been following the Fantasy/Fiction Literary world for the past few years now, reading such authors as David Gemmell, Stan Nicholls, Jim Butcher, and Anne McCaffrey. I began with Nicholls' books on Orcs and the Dreamtime series and finished those quickly enough; hungry for more writing like his I looked up his influences and found David Gemmell, an author who I now call the greatest Fantasy/Fiction writer in the history of the genre. I joined a guild on Albion in the MMORPG DAoC, which I have been playing for the past few years or so, called Dragonriders. Upon asking the Guild Master about the name he told me of the Dragonriders of Pern books, at which I decided to take a look. That marked the day that I added Anne McCaffrey to my list of favorite authors. It wasn't until after I had read some of the books of these authors multiple times and went to order the latest of one that I decided to use the tool on Amazon that shows what other people who purchased the books also purchased. It was through this that I found Furies of Calderon, the first in the Codex Alera series by Jim Butcher. I had heard of his work writing the Dresden Files but wasn't a big fam, however this new series was going in a direction I could follow, and soon took the list as well as one of my all-time favorite authors. Dragonriders has since practically disbanded, multiple members leaving for other games or real-life issues, and in the time that followed I was unable to find a guild that could hold up to my heightened expectations in Albion. I decided to go to Midgard one night with some friends to fool around; it wasn't until the next day that they had gone back to Albion and yet I remained on my Bonedancer, learning the ways of Midgard once more and taking to the frontiers in the hopes of leveling my way to the top ranks of my class. I went my path alone for quite some time and it wasn't until I heard a call through the frontiers from a Hunter of his guild's recruitment policy that I decided to hunker down and join a new community. I have since helped expand that community and have formed and strengthened bonds all the way from friends to extended family, even in one case to family with the proposal to a fellow guild member, one which she accepted with a huge smile and a playful tone. I now work on my in-game friendships as well as real-life ambitions to move to Alaska with my fiancee to take up my post in defense of my city and community with a different type of shield, that of a police officer. I enjoy writing all sorts of literature from poems to short stories, novels to series. I have yet to finish a novel or series, but some day I plan to finish one and publish it, as well as a book of my poetry.
