"We Only Steal From The Best."

Stories? In the immortal words of Jimmy Durante, "I gotta million of 'em." I think all of us build on the stories we've read or heard before, the styles we've admired and the thoughts others have transmitted to us whether it be visually, written, verbal, musical, poetic, emotionally or any other medium. "We stand on the shoulders of giants." So if you find something in my stories you consider of worth, feel free to try to improve, embellish, adopt or adapt.

Have been influenced by many and diverse sources. Lots of the classics when I was younger. The Great Books series was a wonderful overview of western authors. As a history major, I was introduced to sources of eastern history, philosophy and literature.
Still a sucker for a good western, auto/biography or historical fiction. Eclectic musical influences from the English invasion groups to The Byrds, CSN&Y, James Taylor to Howling Wolf, John Lee Hooker, Keb' Mo' on through Frank Zappa, Tom Waits, Stan Getz & Astrud Gilberto to Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Copland, Verdi to C&W and in Irish music, the Chieftains, Wolfe Tones, Clancy Brothers, Gaelic Storm and Jeff Dana.
Mostly write stuff I like, but in the contests I'm being challenged by others choices of topics and enjoying it. I'll admit to searching for a wider audience and hope I'm not stepping on toes with some of my editorial comments which tend to enter unbidden on some pieces. I ask for critical comments because I'm always trying to upgrade my ignorance.

I recently had my first story accepted for publication. The link for the story is below:

Will do. Just one question. Do you know something I don't? arabs & jews? I'm half Irish & half German and All American. Now, me Granda ran a chain of 5 clothing stores with a Jewish fella, Connolly and Cohn in Gary, Indiana. Mr. Cohn ran the books and himself handled the sales and operations.
Anyway, I surely did appreciate the award and will definitely enjoy it. If you think my poetry is good, in the words of Al Jolson, "you ain't seen nothing yet." I'm more of a storyteller than a poet. If ever you're in the mood for a detective story, try Recall.
Also, Squishyrobot has a contest, Multiple Retellings of Pandora's Box. She's trying to find the best writers on SW/AP so she can publish a book. Sounds like she's looking for you. I'll send the link.

I love detective stories and I am not the best nor will I ever come close to such a title.

            If anything you should enter.
