My name is Jim and my SW name tells something about me.
Now living in the Seattle, Washington area times have been spent by a campfire when my only companions were the moon, a lake and a wolf in the distance, all making my world expand.
I've been left asking questions about everything, writing poetry, and being a bit cynical. Others also say my sense of humor is strange (though it doesn't seem that way to me) so you be the judge.
Now is the time to give in to the stories that insist on writing themselves each I see an old building or read the inscription on a tombstone and to do some things want to do instead of taking care of others.
Also there is work with the homeless to insure they get a decent lunch each week, even if it means sandwiches. Not a "do-gooder" just hate to see people without go hungry if it can be avoided.
INVICTUS
by: William Earnest Henley
Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the Pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.
In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody buy unbowed.
Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds, and shall find, me unafraid.
It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll.
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.
Favorite authors range from Taylor Caldwell and Poe to Robert Penn Warren to Maya Angelou.
Guess it's easy to tell what type of music I prefer...classical, right? Actually classical isn't too bad, but then my ringtone is Smokin' Gun, some heavy blues.
