I work full time at a job which takes 9 hours of my day and 2 extra hours of travel time to get to.
I'm the editor and organiser of a fortnightly youth newspaper at my church which takes far longer to put together than it should because no one else in the team is organised and I have to constantly chase them up while still only receiving their submissions usually at the very last minute and sometimes even after the deadlines I've given them. (Can you tell this is a source of frustration for me?
)
I like my sleep and often need more than the average person's 7-8 hours.
I just bought a house which needs serious renovations.
Because of these 4 facts, I don't have much time to write.
~
For the reviewers:
I prefer critical reviews over praise reviews. I prefer story/plot/idea critiques over grammar/spelling critiques. I want to know if my plot has holes in it, if the idea is interesting and keeps you hooked. I want to know what you specifically liked or disliked. BE RUTHLESS! BE HONEST! I will not bite you back.
I believe contests should be taken seriously and that people should respect the rules.

CactusJack on February 1, 2008Hi Myryca,
My Username is -CactusJack- and everyone on the site simply calls me Jack. I would like to welcome you to the StoryWrite web site. Our site is a community of people who all share a common desire to write, in some form or another, and to hopefully become a published author sometime in the future.
You may notice a gold medal by your name. This is a free trial membership. This shows you what options you have if you were a paid member of Storywrite.com. After three days the membership expires and you become a regular member.
I would also like to take this time to let you know about the new members group on the site. This group was set-up to show you how to post your work onto the site and to give you an understanding of how the reading/reviewing of your work actually happens on the site. If you have not already done so, I would suggest you take a peek into this group and see how this process works. 1. http://storywrite.com/group/info/New+members+group
Along with a new members group we have a New Members Contest. http://storywrite.com/contest/3710
It is recommended that all new members to the site give serious consideration to joining a writing group as a method of assisting them in becoming an active member of the site. It is a place to make new friends and get helpful critiques.
I have include below a few quick tips that have proven to be very helpful to new members in doing some of the basic functions necessary to get yourself set-up and running on the site. There are some very helpful and entertaining columns on the home page.
One in particular is fun things to do around Storywrite http://storywrite.com/column/show/161
To find all the emoticons http://storywrite.com/column/show/53
Chatterbox conduct. http://storywrite.com/column/show/57
Trolls or Cyberbullies http://storywrite.com/column/show/151
On the right hand side of the page is where you’ll find all you need to edit yours stories, change your user info, change your picture, etc. Thank you for joining the StoryWrite web community. Keep penning.
