Mel-the-BelieverShow stories

I go by Melissa or Mel. For most of my life I've been a Christian, but it hasn't been til the last year or so that I've really felt Him and called out to him. He's still working and I see it and I have to laugh when I see His sense of humor shine through in the things around me, whether it be a verse I read that fits perfectly, even though that's not quite humor maybe, or in things people do or say around me. But yes, I've defenitely seen Him working in my life.

I am no longer under the full wing of my parents, although I do miss them at times. I'm a college student now and thankful for it. High school was getting tough, it's easier here, and no I'm not talking academic wise. Other than writing and my faith I have a passion for children, those in need, politics(usually), reading, and music(only play piano, but I love to listen to music on my computer, usually rock or country). I have two best friends, whom I love very much. When I'm done with all my schooling I hope to go into law.

The New Colossus-Emma Lazarus

Not like the brazen giant of Greek fame,
With conquering limbs astride from land to land;
Here at our sea-washed, sunset gates shall stand
A mighty woman with a torch, whose flame
Is the imprisoned lightning, and her name
Mother of Exiles. From her beacon-hand
Glows world-wide welcome; her mild eyes command
The air-bridged harbor that twin cities frame.
"Keep ancient lands, your storied pomp!" cries she
With silent lips. "Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"

"Ohio"-Neil Young
Ohio
lyrics by Neil Young

--------

Tin soldiers and Nixon coming,
We're finally on our own.
This summer I hear the drumming,
Four dead in Ohio.

Gotta get down to it
Soldiers are gunning us down
Should have been done long ago.
What if you knew her
And found her dead on the ground
How can you run when you know?

Gotta get down to it
Soldiers are gunning us down
Should have been done long ago.
What if you knew her
And found her dead on the ground
How can you run when you know?

Tin soldiers and Nixon coming,
We're finally on our own.
This summer I hear the drumming,
Four dead in Ohio.

Every Abortion Is Just . . .

One more heart that was stopped.
Two more eyes that will never see.
Two more hands that will never touch.
Two more legs that will never run.
One more mouth that will never speak.
