Little solace comes
to those who grieve
when thoughts keep drifting
as walls keep shifting
and this great blue world of ours
seems a house of leaves
moments before the wind
-House of Leaves
This is not for you.
Don't Look Away.
It's far too late to look away now.
The oldest and strongest emotion of mankind is fear, and the oldest and strongest kind of fear is fear of the unknown.
My name is Lauren.
Do you know fear?
Let me show you.
I write horror. Prepare yourself for nightmares.
Real terror is not the sight of death. It is the fear of death.
What do you fear?
Anything could hide there.
Every second of every day your life might end.
They have no conscience, no morals.
The smoothness running through your skin.
The small furry legs that climb everywhere.
You never know what they might do.
One click and you're dead.
Your flesh being torn through piece by piece.
The Sounds of the Night?
What are they?
The world should never be silent.
Closed Tight Small Spaces?
Your friends and family dead?
No one you care about is left.
Nothing can be scary. Can you handle nothing?
Did you find it?
I hid something in the nothing.
What could it mean?
Nothing is anything.
Anything can be in there.
Everything is in there.
Something else has taken their place. Something I cannot see. Waiting.
It is hungry. It is immortal.
Worse, it knows nothing of whim.
-Johnny Truant (House of Leaves)
"We are fascinated by the darkness in ourselves, we are fascinated by the shadow, we are fascinated by the boogeyman."
What is it about humans that we are both scared and fascinated by darkness?
It's a great unknown, and yet it's the ultimate release of yourself, your identity.
And it's everywhere.
"That is not dead which can eternal lie,
There will always be shadows.
There will always be darkness.
Black as a blackamoor, blin' as a mole.."
What are you afraid of?
I'll exploit it.
"Monsters are real, and ghosts are real too. They live inside us, and sometimes, they win."
Horror isn't about scaring people for me. Horror is about taking writing out of the shackles it is usually bound by and letting the story caress your thoughts and bend your mind.
My unconventional style isn't about rebelling. It's aboutt aking writing into the 3rd dimension, giving my sentences and thoughts form, making your eyes zig and zag to feel what the character is feeling.
My Horror is an art.
Combining my hypnosis knowledge with my twisted mind, I create stories that will let your imaginations soar and haunt your nights.
"One need not be a chamber to be haunted. One need not be a house. The brain has corridors surpassing material place."
- Emily Dickinson
And what about sound?
Haven't you ever heard the creak of the door at night?
The taps on your wall.
The silence of the dark.
Steps of a person who isn't there.
What could all those be?
Fear really is that Sound.
That sound you hear right now
that you may never hear again.
Don't Turn around.
Are you sure?
Do you dare check?
What is the shadow in your vision?
What is that chill down your spine?
What are the sounds that break the silence of the night?
What is behind your eyes that you never see?
What could be behind that door?
Where could that monster be hiding?
That is my horror.
No one should brave the underworld alone
-Annie Danielewski aka Poe
