My son, Somsuvra has dedicated the following awesome poem to me:
DEDICATION
From the streets of East-bengal to that in Bombay
Life has since come a long way.
Nothing in life came without a struggle
Guess that makes this occasion even more pleasurable
The fight for livelihood began early,
Premature obligations left little time for study
Loss of loved ones & betrayal of extended family
Became the ideal ingredients to a perfect recipe of misery
Every sunrise brought a new challenge
The answers too difficult for a teenage
Unanswered questions were all over
The tipping point had come; it had to be now or never
He put his hand up, braving each challenge with firmness
Nurturing a dream, to transform the days of gloom to that of bloom
He fought gallantly, ably supported by a lady of wisdom.
Together, they set out on a journey, on the “quest for freedom”.
The memories date back to my childhood.
The impression of a true and honest man still lingers.
Always sacrificing his needs for his family,
Have seen that happen ever so regularly.
Years later today, it’s time to look back with admiration
Not just the accomplishments but the adopted path of progression
The event leaves a distinct mark in my mind
Nothing is impossible, this memorable day would always remind.
Heroes are a rarity,
A blessing to humanity.
With all they give and all they do,
I'll bet the thing you never knew,
My quiet hero has always been you.
