I guess that I'll start out with the good old basics. My name is Kat and I'm a student from the middle of Texas. I love to write, especially poetry, and I've dabbled in lyrics and fantasy tales. I'm just starting to get use to my training-wheels on this site (I am not computer literate, I repeat I have a severe bianary complex!) so give me some time to get everything up and loaded.

I am a HUGE Tolkien fan, as well as Anne Rice. But I have to say that my favorite novel is 'East of Eden.' Simply because I find the raw emotion and complexity of the characters absolutely intoxicating! I don't watch TV because I personally think the News stations have sold their souls to the darker side of the force......

I mostly do volunteer work in my free time for the local libraries and museum. There is also the community theater guild that I am apart of. My time is limited and that which could be considered 'free' is spent on my studies.

Anyhow, don't be afaid to comment on what you read, like all self conscious would be writers, I like a persons opinion. With that said, feel free to get lost within the pages!

    Hi Irishfairy;

    My Username is -Syren- and everyone on the site simply calls me Brooke. I would like to welcome you to the StoryWrite web site. Our site is a community of people who all share a common desire to write, in some form or another, and to hopefully become a published author sometime in the future.

    You may notice a gold medal by your name. This is a free trial membership. This shows you what options you have if you were a paid member of Storywrite.com. After one week the membership expires and you become a regular member.

    I would also like to take this time to let you know about the new members group on the site. This group was set-up to show you how to post your work onto the site and to give you an understanding of how the reading/reviewing of your work actually happens on the site.     It is recommended that all new members to the site give serious consideration to joining a writing group as a method of assisting them in becoming an active member of the site. It is a place to make new friends and get helpful critiques.
