The name’s Lorika, friends call me Lori. I'm a moderator
on the site, so if there's anything I may help you with, please do not hesitate to IM me.
My passion lies in art, whether it be painting, drawing, writing or acting.
I plan to study journalism, or something of that nature in the near future. Until then I’ll remain an English Tutor.
I like standing in the rain, the feel of stockings on shaved legs, pearls, the smell of burnt paper, cigarettes and wine, dreaming, picking flowers before ruining them, freshly cut grass, the smell of books, de-masking others, cracking my fingers, and walking alone on the pier at night.
I dislike when somebody I’m not fond of touches me, the sound of clipping nails, mornings, late trains, thunder, day-to-day routines, reality, creased clothing, unreliable people, mascara on my sheets in the morning, and swimming in salty water.
Oh, and if you want to see me play a mime:

Emma: "Low pitched... slightly lower than before pitched..."
Hensley: "Man I hate Paris Hilton! She's so plastic!"

Favourite Paragraph:
" We are all like flies trying to crawl over the edge of the saucer, Mabel thought, and repeated the phrase as if she were crossing herself, as if she were trying to find some spell to annul this pain, to make this agony endurable.
Tags of Shakespeare, lines from books she had read ages ago, suddenly came to her when she was in agony, and she repeated them over and over again.
“Flies trying to crawl,” she repeated.
If she could say that over often enough and make herself see the flies, she would become numb, chill, frozen, dumb. Now she could see flies crawling slowly out of a saucer of milk with their wings stuck together; and she strained and strained (standing in front of the looking–glass, listening to Rose Shaw) to make herself see Rose Shaw and all the other people there as flies, trying to hoist themselves out of something, or into something, meagre, insignificant, toiling flies.
But she could not see them like that, not other people. She saw herself like that—she was a fly, but the others were dragonflies, butterflies, beautiful insects, dancing, fluttering, skimming, while she alone dragged herself up out of the saucer.
(Envy and spite, the most detestable of the vices, were her chief faults) " - Virginia Woolf, The new dress.

Favourite poem:
'Despair'
Ann Sexton
Who is he?
A railroad track toward hell?
Breaking like a stick of furniture?
The hope that suddenly overflows the cesspool?
The love that goes down the drain like spit?
The love that said "forever, forever",
And then runs you over like a truck?
Are you a prayer that floats into a radio advertisement?
Despair
I don't like you very well,
You don't suit my clothes or my cigarettes,
Why do you locate here?
As large as a tank
Aiming at one half of a lifetime
Couldn't you just go float into a tree?
Instead of locating here at my roots?
Forcing me out of the life i've led
When it's been in my belly so long?
Alright!
I'll take you along on the trip!
Where for so many years,
My arms have been speechless...

I989 : Alo :) on October 13Hey, Lorika. I'd like to thank you again for your feedback on "I Still Miss Someone." Reading it over, what strikes me most is your frustration. How'd it really feel to not be fully able to comprehend & be reeled into the words being said, at first read? Am I really genius or a nutcase because of what I write? Or do I, like millions of others, tire of obvious art being relayed the same exact say way? "There's nothing new to say in the world. All the thoughts that could be said have been thought of, the problem is to think of them again." I forgot who that's by. Would you like me to goto your ISP's offices & bash the receptionist (or whatever Indian-accented fool handles customers
)'s phones in?
Now I'd like to share something with you as I'm thinking it, I'm sure people have thought it before, & I'm sure they've said it, but I'm feelin' hot at the moment & the moment to strike won't be felt for awhile; but I think of my writing as the inner-working of a person's mind; because thoughts don't stop, feelings & images & daydreams don't stop, emotions don't stop-- even numbness & not-feeling is a feeling in itself, & what people see between the stage & the performer on that stage is their interpretation, & sometimes they need shades on, & sometimes they need to lift the blinds; even I need to use a few colours, maybe introduce 'em to the soothing watery creak & offer 'em some cups of milk before introducing 'em to nails being hammered to a tree & filling their cups with vanilla creme mixed with curry-mixed hot sauce. I don't know. I don't know..I just got done watching some Tupac interviews & speeches on Youtube so I'm kind've inspired to be real with myself for tonight, hope you don't mind! Haha
Nick Cave? Leonard Cohen? Lorika's got taste!
I'll trade you O Malley's Bar & The Wonderful Life for whatever Cohen you got
P.S apologies for the long comment
