Arrwyn Cliona Odhalt was given the name Pennie Elizabeth Prohaska at birth but the name “Pennie” means “weaver” and it has been a web of woes most of my life, so, I changed it. Arrwyn Cliona Odhalt means “Fire goddess from the white way living in her wealth” a much more advantageous name.
I was born in Perth Amboy, NJ to Lillian and Edward Prohaska, a lower middle class family. My father was a crane operator for the County and my mother was a book keeper. I began “writing” stories before I could actually write. I’d scribble on a page then take my story to anyone who would listen and tell them what it said. OF course the story changed every time I told it, but hey, I was 3! I learned to write English letters around the age of 4 and was already reading simple books by the age of 5. Writing was something I can not conceive of ever NOT doing. My mother was my first fan and my first editor. I learned to read with Fantasy and Science Fiction magazine, my mother was a charter member of that publication and has had a membership, almost completely interrupted, since she was about 20 and only stopped buying them when she was in her late 70s. (She needed time to catch up on 9 years of issues she hadn’t had time to read!). I learned about science from Isaac Asimov before I was old enough to have science classes in school, I learned about speculative fiction from Rod Serling, Robert Block and Harlan Ellison before I started reading any of the “classics” one “must” read in school. I have a very “visual” way of writing and am considering attempting to playwright, but most of my material is in the Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror genre. Of course over the years I’ve written things like procedural manuals, proprietary information packets and articles for company newspapers but getting my fiction published has always been my passion. I don’t write inside the box no matter what the genre and getting past publishing editors has always been difficult for me. Money had always been an issue for me, too. There is way too much truth to the adage “it takes money to make money”.
I have been married twice and have three children from different associations. My youngest child is now 21 and works full time. Ashley is something of a Renaissance woman when it comes to creativity, she can do just about anything artistic but she writes as well, I’m very proud of her. She’s been a Girl Scout for 13 years now!
I grew up in New Jersey and never felt at home there. I saw the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia for the first time when I was about 14 and had tried most of my life to get back there. Here was “home” for me. We finally made it when Ashley was 6 and we’ve enjoyed this beautiful part of Virginia ever since.
My employment career has been vast, but I never found a real home doing anything because all I really want to do is write. Journalism never held any interest for me; I’d rather ask “what if” than deal with “cold hard facts”. I hope you all enjoy what you read of my work.

Hi, Arrwyn and welcome to the StoryWrite website!

My username is whichcraft but most people just call me Jenn in my circle of friends. Our site is a community of people who all share a common desire to write and hopefully become a published author sometime in the future. It is also a place to sharpen your writing skills and display your creativity while being in a fun environment!

You will notice a gold medal by your name. This is a free trial membership. This shows you what options you have if you were a paid member of Storywrite.com. After approximately three days the gold membership expires, so take the opportunity to see all that our site offers to you.

We have a new members group on the site. This group was set-up to show you how to post your work onto the site and to give you an understanding of how the reading/reviewing of your work actually happens. If you have not already done so, I would suggest you take a peek into this group and see how this process works. http://storywrite.com/group/info/New+members+group

Along with a new members group, we have a New Members Contest that is held every month. Come and check it out. The contest is open to any new member. http://storywrite.com/contest/5074

It is recommended that all new members to the site give serious consideration to joining a writing group as a method of assisting them in becoming an active member of the site. It is a great place to make new friends and get helpful critiques.

I have included below a few quick tips that have proven to be very helpful to new members in doing some of the basic functions necessary to get yourself set-up and running on the site. One in particular is fun things to do around Storywrite: http://storywrite.com/column/show/161
